The fall season can conjure up cozy nights, crisp air walks, and trips to apple orchards. It's a great time to change up your decor to reflect and embrace that feeling.
Maybe this seems obvious- maybe it doesn't, but if you know me, I usually start with a color palette I want to work with. It can also start with an object I love that informs the rest of my choices (this year I am building off a berry wreath I found at Crate and Barrel). The wreath is a beautiful berry wine color which I am using in my fall decor this year along with some warm yellows, rusty oranges and greens.
Once I select my palette, I go through my house looking for anything in those colors: books, vases, candles, etc. These items can often be used on shelves or coffee tables to support the rest of the fall decor. I source from my fall bins and candle stash and even sometimes borrow from items sourced for unknown future projects to see what I can gather that will go with this season's theme. Some years I have everything I need at hand, other years I find I need to purchase items to fill in. As the years have gone by I have much more to pull from but it's nice to add in some new, fresh items once in a while as well.
This year I invested in some beautiful, realistic faux greens/garlands. I am definitely team fresh flowers and greens but on a practical level the faux greens can be installed for longer and can be reused in different ways from year to year. So as long as the greens are high quality, I am all for them!
My exterior honestly gets most of the fall treatment. I actually go out more for Fall than anything else because it can be up for a full 2 months until Thanksgiving before I transition for the next month of Christmas. For the front porch I love zhuzhing up my lanterns with different colored candles and fairy lights along with the tried and true mums and pumpkins. This year I am also using my new garlands to do a design over the door entry. I will update with pictures so be sure to check back or hop to instagram to see!
My top picks to style your space for a warm fall vibe are: maple or grape leaves & garlands, awesome smelling candles (I am swooning over Crate and Barrels Monochrome Pampas right now!), fairy lights & pumpkins of all sizes. Add in a color palette to the mix and watch the magic begin!!
